If you are going to join FinLine for the first time, you may wonder
how much you will have free time on the trip. It would be also nice to
know what kind of free time gear is worth of taking. Here is the schedule
of a typical FinLine day:
| Time about |
Action |
|---|---|
| 7.30 |
Earliest skaters in the breakfast room. Skaters of the faster groups wake up usually a bit later. We will discuss about the day schedule while eating the breakfast. If the morning is rainy, the we may decide to start later. |
| 8.30 |
Service
car doors are opened for packing the baggage and filling the drink
bottles. The map is analyzed to see if there are any fine places to
have a break together. |
| 9.00 | The slow group starts skating. If the day-trip is very short (several tens of kilometers), we may start later. |
| 10.00 |
The service car will be closed - all baggage has been packed in the car and it drives to service the first group. |
| 10.00 |
The
fast group starts skating. Other groups start so that distances between
groups are as short as possible during the whole trip. |
| by day |
Groups meet at a lunch break or swimming break. These breaks may be preplanned or spontaneous. |
| 15 - 16 |
Skater groups are joined at a suitable meeting point near the destination. |
| 15 - 17 |
Arriving
the destination together with the service car. Please wait until the
room list as been checked before signing up in the accommodation. |
| 16 - 18 |
Sauna.
Remember to take your swimming suit (swimming may be possible) with
you! If there are only one sauna, the order of having sauna is agreed
for ladies and gentlemen. Sauna is an important event as there we
exchange experiences between skating groups. |
| 18 - 19 |
Dinner. In most cases we have agreed the dinner beforehand. If you have a special diet, remember to remind about it beforehand. |
| after the dinner |
Free time. Listen to other's plans and join to an interesting crowd. Most common evening programs have been: beach volley, frisbeeing, sightseeing walks, evening skating, sitting in restaurant, and other sports that can be done together. You may also service your skates for the next day now. |
| 21 - 22 |
Some of the skaters continue to local restaurants to see the local nightlife (if the accommodation is near the city/village center). Others go to bed. |
| 23 - 01 |
Latest skaters are back in the accommodation. |
The schedule is similar in the last skating day, too, but after the dinner we will have farewell-program for the whole night and partying will continue to late night. Return trip will not start earlier than at noon next day. In the morning before the return trip we have usually a skating tour in the city, which starts about at 9 o'clock (exact time will be agreed in the evening -- we cannot start much later as we need to be back in shower and pack our baggage before noon).
There will be short free moments in the afternoon after the day-trip. They are useful for sorting the baggage and shopping some snacks and refreshments. If the accommodation is on the countryside, do your shopping beforehand as there might be no shops close to the accommodation.
It is worth of listening the others and see what program has been planned. Experienced FinLine skaters advise you gladly. If you just loll in the hotel room you will miss half of the FinLine!
