Preview the route with Google Earth

You can preview the FinLine 2006 route with the free Google Earth application. Although the resolution of the imagery in the Lapland area is not the best, you can for example see the beautiful valley of river Teno and the steep slopes of the surrounding fells.

You can find detailed instructions for Google Earth application on the Google Earth site. The main thing you need to do to preview the FinLine 2006 route are:

1. Download and install the free Google Earth application from http://earth.google.com.
2. Click the route link above and open the file with Google Earth. Item "FinLine 2006" will appear under "Temporary Places"
   
3. To see the great slopes and the valleys, check that the option "Terrain" is enabled in the navigation panel. Set also the "Elevation exaggeration" to 1.5 in the options window (Tools - Options).
   
4. To "fly" through the FinLine route, select the item "FinLine 2006 route" in the Places box and click the "Play Tour" button on the bottom of the box (see picture on the right).
